New Mid-Range Overhead Crane Hoists will Set New Standards for Safe and Reliable Lifting in Industry

A new generation of mid-range hoists in the zero to 25 tonnes category, is being launched by overhead crane experts Street Crane Company. The ZX6 and ZX8 Series hoists will set new standards for safety, reliability and performance.

In parallel with the start of production at Street Crane’s Derbyshire factory, Chinese licence holders, Nanjing Hoisting Machinery General Works Company (NHM), will also start-up manufacture of ZX6 and ZX8 hoists for the Chinese home market. Street Crane will supply other crane builders and trade partners throughout the world with hoists from their Derbyshire factory.

The new hoists are the product of a radical design process and offer an unrivalled range of options. Engineered for high volume production to meet the needs of crane builders throughout the world, they have the adaptability to meet individual customer and local market needs. The hoists have 30 percent fewer components than their predecessors, are quicker to build and offer exceptional value for this class of performance.

The gearbox is one of the principal components in any hoist and Street Crane has opted for hardened precision ground gears that are immersed in oil within a machined gearbox case. In common with other Street Crane hoists, the units have an open plan design for easy access to components and to promote cooling.

The hoists are also designed to minimise height and overall dimensions so that they occupy only the minimum space, making them suitable for modern low-rise workshops. The modularised units are easily customised to meet customer and country requirements, either by Street Crane or by their local trade partners and distributors.

Reflecting the engineering changes, duty classifications have been up-rated across the hoist range. Long term reliability has been proven by an intensive programme of accelerated life tests. This allowed the effect of many years operation to be compressed into a few weeks 24/7 operation. With full loads, lift and fall cycles were followed with speed changes and pauses so that mechanisms were severely challenged. Advanced vibration analysis was also undertaken to allow the performance of each individual component to be isolated and performance optimised.

More technical information on the ZX6 and ZX8 Series hoists is available from the company’s web site at www.streetcrane.co.uk/zx_hoists.html.
