New Golf Equipment Auction Web Site Beats the Counterfeiters – ‘If it's Jam it's Genuine’

Keen golfers seeking a new set of golf clubs and golfing accessories can now benefit from online auction prices without the worry of counterfeit goods. Set up by Jam Auctions, www.jamgolf.com, features only authorised resellers of branded golf equipment to guarantee goods are genuine and of top quality.

The web site has been created by golf enthusiasts Jeremy Tomlinson and Andrew Fothergill. “There can be a significant risk of unknowingly buying counterfeit golf equipment on some online auctions – you only have to Google ‘golf counterfeiting’ to see the scale of the problem. Andy and I thought there had to be a better way, so we created jamgolf.com,” commented Tomlinson.

Most of the big brands will be available on the site: Odyssey, Taylor Made, Callaway, Cleveland, Yonex and more. Registration is free and users can immediately go about bidding in the knowledge that the legitimate sellers of branded golf clubs are pre-vetted.

“The beauty of the site is that it is run by golfers for golfers. Without the clutter of the mixed goods that feature on other auction sites, means jamgolf.com is very easy to navigate and use. Whether someone is a pro, semi-pro, keen amateur or golf novice, they will find the authentic golf equipment they need,” explained Fothergill.

“On our stand at the recent London Golf Show at ExCel we had on show a range of fake Golf clubs. The reaction from visitors confirmed that many could not immediately recognise them as counterfeit. Some even shared their horror stories of inadvertently buying duds online,” added Tomlinson.

Besides having no residual value when traded in, fake golf clubs have one other disastrous drawback for the golfer – they negatively affect their game. Fake copies are usually made from inferior materials and without the care that goes into genuine golf club manufacture. After all, the makers of branded golf clubs spend millions on research and development to perfect their products.

There are 1.6 million registered golfers in the UK. Unlike other auction sites, they now have the opportunity to buy branded golf clubs and equipment secure in the knowledge that ‘if it's Jam it's Genuine’ while still benefitting from auction prices. “We really hope JamGolf scores a hole in one and plays a significant role in the battle to beat the counterfeiters,” concluded Fothergill.
